Josh Horne, fought hard but suffered a 1-0 setback to Palm Beach Atlantic (1-0) Thursday evening in the 2022 season opener at Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Field.
The Sailfish, ranked No. 13 in NCAA Division II, scored the lone goal of the match at the 11:48 mark of the first half when Harry Gardner (Fleet, ENGLAND) finished off a shot from Federico Serra (Cagliari, ITALY) in the box that found the left corner of the net.
Palm Beach Atlantic held a 20-5 advantage in shots taken while Guillermo Falo (Zaragoza, SPAIN) earned the shutout victory in goal for the Sailfish. Barton freshman goalkeeper
Steingrimur Gunnarsson (Grenivek, ICELAND) took the loss for the Bulldogs despite five saves.
Barton remains at home to take on Methodist at Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Field on Sunday beginning at 6:00 p.m., while Palm Beach Atlantic faces Shaw in Raleigh, N.C., on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.
