Barton men’s lacrosse wins second straight game, 18-7 over Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Barton men's lacrosse team (7-5, 2-2) picked up its second straight victory with an 18-7 triumph over Emmanuel (Ga.) (2-10, 0-4), 18-7, Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas game at Lions Field.

Barton senior attacker Seth Mandryk (Stonewall, Manitoba, CANADA) led the Bulldogs with four goals while freshman midfielder J.J. Mitchell (Winston-Salem, N.C.) added three scores as the visitors jumped out to a 4-0 advantage just four minutes into the match and never looked back in the win.

Barton held an 11-4 advantage at halftime and stayed in control the rest of the way.  Sophomore attacker Mason Chaney (Dunkirk, Md.), who was named to the national team of the week a few days earlier, added three goals as well in addition to an assist and leads the team in both goals (34) and points scored (46).

The Bulldogs held a 53-39 advantage in shots taken in the victory also.

Emmanuel was led by Allan Velasquez (Norcross, Ga.) with two goals but the home suffered its third straight setback.  In goal, Barton senior Giuseppe Brown (Gorham, Maine) earned the victory after making 11 saves while Emmanuel's goalkeeper, Cole Steiger (Cocoa, Fla.), took the setback.  Steiger made seven saves on the day.

Barton returns home to take on Chowan on Saturday, April 16, in a league match at Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Field beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Emmanuel hosts Belmont Abbey Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
