WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's lacrosse team (8-5, 3-2) celebrated Senior Day in style by outscoring Chowan (5-7, 1-4), 19-17, Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas game at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.
The Bulldogs, winners of three straight contests, were led by sophomore forward
Mason Chaney (Dunkirk, Md.) with six goals while sophomore attacker
Matt Calleri (Holly Springs, N.C.) added four scores as Barton held off a furious Chowan rally to earn the victory.
Chaney leads the team in goals scored (40) and total points (53) and crossed the 100-goal mark for his collegiate career.
Chowan's Jaxon Martin (Jarvis, Ontario, CANADA), the league's leading scorer, finished with 10 total points – six goals and four assists – as the visitors closed a 17-10 margin at the end of the third period to two but ran out of time.

J.J. Mitchell (Winston-Salem, N.C.) had an outstanding all-around game with a pair of goals and five assists as the home team held decisive advantages in both shots taken (56-38) and ground balls (39-22).

Trevor Witholt (Murrieta, Calif.) earned the victory after playing into the fourth period and stopping eight shots while Chowan's goalkeeper, Alex Rodopoulos (Livonia, Mich.), suffered the loss despite 15 saves on the day.
Barton remains at home to take on rival Mount Olive in the regular season finale and league showdown on Friday at 7:00 p.m., while Chowan travels to Banner Elk, N.C., to face Lees-McRae next Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m
