BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Barton men's lacrosse team (6-5, 1-2) earned its first Conference Carolinas victory of the year, 22-8 over Lees-McRae (2-8, 0-2) Saturday afternoon at Tate Field.

Mason Chaney (Dunkirk, Md.) scored a school single-game record eight goals while sophomore attacker
Matt Calleri (Holly Springs, N.C.) and junior midfielder
Mark Crawford (Chesapeake Beach, Md.) added five and four assists, respectively, in the win.
Trailing by a 5-4 score entering the second period, the Bulldogs reeled off eight straight goals to take complete control of the match. Chaney kick-started the run with the first two scores including the match-winner. Chaney has taken over the team leads in both goals scored (31) and total points (42).
Lees-McRae was led by J.P. Galloway (Frederick, Md.) with three goals but the Bobcats were undone by a 14-1 run by the Bulldogs over the second and third periods.
The Bulldogs held advantages in both shots taken (43-36) and ground balls (38-29) while sophomore
Nathan Metcalf (Oxford, N.C.) earned the victory in goal after stopping 10 shots on the day. Lees-McRae's goalkeeper, Antonio Cruz (Wilmington, N.C.), made seven saves but suffered the loss.
Barton remains on the road to take on Emmanuel (Ga.) in Franklin Springs, Ga., on Saturday, April 9, beginning at 1:00 p.m., in league action while Lees-McRae faces Belmont Abbey in Belmont, N.C., on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
