WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (0-16, 0-11) came up short in three sets to Erskine (11-15, 5-6), 3-0, Friday evening in a Conference Carolinas match at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Flying Fleet downed the Bulldogs by scores of 25-15, 26-24 and 25-22 to sweep the season series from the Bulldogs.
Erskine was led by Edgerrin Austin (Joliet, Ill.) with 16 kills while Jason Sall (New Lenox, Ill.) and Kacper Rybarczyk (Warsaw, POLAND) added 10 kills each as the visitors hit .302 for the match in the win.
Barton was led by freshman middle blocker
Benjamin Wiechert (Suffolk, Va.) with eight kills while senior setter
Moses Kresch (Hershey, Pa.) added 25 assists in the losing effort. The Bulldogs were hurt by 14 service errors as well.
Barton will look to pick up its first win of the season on Saturday when the Bulldogs face Emmanuel (Ga.) in a league match as part of Senior Day at home beginning at 2:00 p.m. Erskine, meanwhile, takes on Mount Olive on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., as well in Mount Olive, N.C.
