MARS HILL, N.C. – The Barton women's lacrosse team (3-4) made it two victories in a row with a 10-7 win over Mars Hill (5-1) Tuesday afternoon at Meares Stadium and the Ammons Family Athletic Center.
Freshman midfielder
Tamia Marshall (Wilmington, N.C.) finished with a match-high four goals for the Bulldogs, who jumped out to an 8-1 advantage at halftime and held off a furious Lions' rally to leave the mountains of North Carolina with a win.
Maria Fabrizio (Centennial, Ga.) and Kiersten Foust (Greensboro, N.C.) both scored twice for the Lions, who scored six straight goals after halftime to cut the margin to one but the visitors found the back of the net twice in the final 3:44 to secure the win.
Freshman midfielder
Renee Perkins (Apex, N.C.) added two goals for the Bulldogs, who held a 29-20 advantage in shots taken. Both teams registered 35 ground balls on the day while Barton freshman goalkeeper
Olivia LaValle (Peabody, Mass.) earned the victory in goal after stopping eight shots. Mars Hill's goalkeeper, Virginia Joy (Lusby, Md.), took the loss despite nine saves.
Barton remains on the road to take on Erskine in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday at Noon while Mars Hill hosts UVA Wise on Saturday morning beginning at 11:00 a.m.
