DUE WEST, S.C. – The Barton women's lacrosse team (4-4, 2-0) scored early and often in a 20-5 road victory over Erskine (0-5, 0-2) Saturday morning in Conference Carolinas action at Huggins Field.
Sophomore attackers
MacKenzie Camp (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) and
Sydney Quinn (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) both scored four goals for the Bulldogs, who jumped out to a 9-2 advantage and never looked back in winning their third straight contest and remaining unbeaten in league play. Quinn now has a team-leading 22 goals on the season.
Barton freshman midfielder
Renee Perkins (Apex, N.C.) and
Kate Matuza (Hampstead, N.C.) added three scores each for the visitors, who pushed their lead to 17-2 early in the third frame and held a 29-15 advantage in shots on the day.
Erskine's Faith Flanagan (Stratford, Ontario, CANADA) scored three of the home team's five goals but the Flying Fleet continue to search for their first win of the year. Barton freshman goalkeeper
Savannah Graves (Chesapeake, Md.) got the start and earned the victory after making four saves while Erskine's goalkeeper, Madelyn Rogers (Greenville, S.C.), suffered the loss. Rogers was credited with a pair of saves.
Barton returns home to take on Emmanuel (Ga.) in a league contest on Saturday, March 19, at Noon at Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Field while Erskine takes on North Greenville Wednesday on the road in Tigerville, S.C.
