WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (0-10) lost in four sets to Tusculum (5-9), 3-1, in an NCAA Division II match at Wilson Gymnasium on Friday night.
The Pioneers won over the Bulldogs by scores of 19-25, 25-23, 25-22 and 25-20 and snapped a two-match losing streak in the process.
Tusculum was led by Jake Whyte (Greenbrier, Tenn.) with 15 kills while Dane Loup (Mandeville, La.) added 14 kills as the Pioneers rallied from one set down to take the win. Shaun Kampshoff (Las Vegas, Nev.) added 49 assists and eight digs for the visitors, who also finished with eight service aces in the win.
Barton was led by graduate student middle blocker
Zach Reider (St. Charles, Mo.) with 11 kills and sophomore outside hitter
Brandon Johnston (Hawkes Bay, NEW ZEALAND) added 10 kills in the setback. The Bulldogs did finish with 10.5 blocks despite the loss.
Barton next travels to Franklin Springs, Ga., to take on Emmanuel in a Conference Carolinas contest at 7:00 p.m., on Friday, March 18, while Tusculum takes on Mount Olive on Saturday in Mount Olive, N.C., beginning at 6:00 p.m.
