MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (0-15, 0-10) suffered a three-set loss to rival Mount Olive (11-4, 8-2) Tuesday evening at Kornegay Arena in a Conference Carolinas match.
The Trojans won by scores of 25-12, 25-22 and 25-10 and swept the season series from the Bulldogs.
Mount Olive hit .516 for the match and was led by Eric Visgitis (Wexford, Pa.) and Louie Hadfield (Nelson, NEW ZEALAND) with nine kills each. Jarrod Ferguson (Auckland, NEW ZEALAND) added 29 assists and 10 digs for a double-double for the Trojans.
Barton was led by sophomore outside
Brandon Johnston (Hawkes Bay, NEW ZEALAND) and sophomore middle blocker
Thomas Fanic (Narbonne, FRANCE) with six kills each. The Bulldogs, however, hit just .113 for the match and committed 15 service errors. The Bulldogs had a chance in the second set but the Trojans captured the final two points.
Barton looks to rebound on Friday when the Bulldogs host Erskine on Friday, April 1, beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Wilson Gymnasium while Mount Olive remains at home to face Emmanuel at 7:00 p.m., on Friday.
