WILSON, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (16-15) notched a 7-3 home win over Virginia State (9-12) Tuesday at Nixon Field to run its winning streak to three games in a non-league midweek contest.

Carelle Gonzalez (Bridgeton, N.J.) and senior second baseman
Dylan Scaranda (Galloway, N.J.) both finished with a pair of hits and an RBI as the Bulldogs reeled off six straight runs after spotting the Trojans a 1-0 advantage on their way to the win.
Barton freshman
Tyler Blackburn (Fayetteville, N.C.) (1-0) earned the first victory of his collegiate career after allowing just one run over five innings of work to go along with six strikeouts.
Virginia State's Dawsyn Hock (Hopewell, Va.) hit a pair of run-scoring doubles but Keith Wallace (Bowie, Md.) (0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.
Barton remains at home to take on Emmanuel (Ga.) in a Conference Carolinas game on Friday evening beginning at 5:00 p.m., at Fleming Stadium while Virginia State faces The Apprentice School on Friday in a doubleheader at Newport News, Va., at 3:00 p.m.
