BELMONT, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (0-14, 0-9) fell in three sets to Belmont Abbey (14-9, 5-5), 3-0, Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Crusaders won over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-22, 25-18 and 25-12 and swept the season series from Barton.
Belmont Abbey was led by Andrew Kohut (Naperville, Ill.) with a match-high 17 kills while Matteo Miselli (Reggio Emilia, ITALY) added 10 kills as the visitors hit .346 for the match.
Barton was paced by freshman middle blocker
Benjamin Wiechert (Suffolk, Va.) with eight kills and freshman setter
Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wis.) totaled 26 assists in the setback. Barton was limited to a .125 hitting percentage in the defeat as well.
Barton looks to bounce back on Tuesday when the Bulldogs travel to Mount Olive, N.C., to take on rival Mount Olive in league action beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Belmont Abbey returns home to face Emmanuel on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., as well.
