WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (0-13, 0-8) suffered a 3-0 loss to North Greenville (14-5, 8-2) Friday evening in a Conference Carolinas contest at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Crusaders remained in sole possession of second place in the league standings after downing the Bulldogs by scores of 25-16, 25-23 and 25-17.
North Greenville, which beat Barton for the second time this year, was led by Diego Rosich (Cupey, PUERTO RICO) with 10 kills while Sergio Carrillo (Caguas, PUERTO RICO) added 29 assists and five digs as the visitors hit .301 for the match in the win.
Barton was led by graduate student middle blocker
Zach Reider (St. Charles, Mo.) and freshman middle blocker
Benjamin Wiechert (Suffolk, Va.) with six kills each but the Bulldogs were limited to a 0.068 hitting percentage. In addition, the Bulldogs had a chance in the second set but couldn't hold a 16-9 advantage out of the gate.
Barton looks to bounce back on Saturday when the Bulldogs hosts Belmont Abbey at 2:00 p.m., in a league affair while North Greenville takes on Mount Olive in Mount Olive, N.C., beginning at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday as well.
