WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (16-13) used a 61-point second half to break open a close contest and roll to a 94-75 win over Lees-McRae (15-14) Monday evening in a 2022 Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Championship Second Round game at Wilson Gymnasium. The Bulldogs are the sixth seed in the tournament while the Bobcats were seeded seventh.

Trevon Spencer (Columbia, N.C.) finished with a game-high 25 points and 12 rebounds including several thunderous dunks to lead the Bulldogs, who advanced to the quarterfinals of the league tournament to take on third-seeded Belmont Abbey (19-9) Friday at 1:30 p.m., at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium on the campus of Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C.

Marcus Boykin (Clinton, N.C.) added 20 points including 16 in the first half as the Bulldogs broke the contest wide open after holding a 33-28 edge at intermission.
The Bulldogs shot 80 percent (23-of-29) in the second half and led by as many as 29 points – 84-55 with 5:03 left in the contest – in defeating Lees-McRae for the second time in five days. Barton defeated Lees-McRae by a 100-87 score on Thursday, February 24, in the regular season finale in Banner Elk, N.C.
Five players scored in double figures for the Bulldogs including 16 points from sophomore guard
Malik Bryant (Louisburg, N.C.). Lees-McRae was led by Drew Gardner (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) with 19 points in the losing effort.
