ANDERSON, S.C. – The Barton men's lacrosse team (1-2) fell to Anderson (2-2) Saturday afternoon in an NCAA Division II game by a 16-6 score at Spero Financial Field.
The Trojans' Beau Henson (Woodstock, Ga.) scored four goals as Anderson broke a three-all tie early in the second quarter and reeled off seven straight goals for a 10-3 advantage at intermission on its way to a second straight victory.
Logan Gaddis (Norcross, Ga.) added a pair of goals and six assists as the Trojans held sizable advantages in both shots taken (54-24) and ground balls (51-21) in the victory. The Trojans also won 23-of-26 faceoffs over the Bulldogs.
For Barton, junior midfielder
Mark Crawford (Chesapeake Beach, Md.) scored twice while both goalkeepers, senior
Trevor Witholt (Murrieta, Calif.) and junior
Giuseppe Brown (Gorham, Maine), tallied 11 saves on the day. Witholt, however, suffered the loss after playing the first half.
Barton looks to rebound on Wednesday against Catawba in Salisbury, N.C., beginning at 4:00 p.m., while Anderson hosts North Greenville on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
