WILSON, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (7-3, 2-0) opened Conference Carolinas play with a doubleheader sweep of Chowan (4-6, 0-2), 5-0 and 16-9, Saturday afternoon at Nixon Field. The Bulldogs have won three straight contests.
Game One – Barton 5, Chowan 0 (seven innings)

Alex Hart (Raleigh, N.C.) improved to 3-0 on the season with a complete game shutout victory. Hart scattered five hits while striking out seven batters in the triumph.
Offensively, sophomore catcher
James Holladay (Washington, D.C.) had three hits and an RBI while senior third baseman
Dylan Scaranda (Galloway, N.J.) hit a solo home run to lead the Bulldogs offensively. Chowan's Shane Rademacher (Greenville, N.C.) fell to 1-1 on the year after taking the loss.
Game Two – Barton 16, Chowan 9

Jared Beebe (Atco, N.J.) hit a three-run home run as part of a seven-run first inning for the Bulldogs as the home team scored 11 runs in the first two innings on its way to an easy win and the doubleheader sweep.
Beebe finished with five runs batted in while sophomore outfielder
Carelle Gonzalez (Bridgeton, N.J.) added a two-run home run as the Bulldogs totaled 18 hits in the contest. Barton senior
Jared Davis (Poquoson, Va.) improved to 3-0 on the year after pitching six innings and striking out nine batters in the win.
Chowan's Emanuel Betancourt (Ponce, PUERTO RICO) and Noah Evington (Maxton, N.C.) both led the visitors with three hits and two runs batted in but Nicky Wohleking (Kilmarnock, Va.) (0-1) suffered the loss.
Barton and Chowan wrap up the weekend series with a single game on Sunday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m.
