WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's lacrosse team (1-0) opened its 2022 campaign in fine fashion with a 16-6 victory over Coker (0-3) Tuesday night at chilly Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.

Sydney Quinn (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) led all scorers with five goals while freshman attacker
Kate Matuza (Hampstead, N.C.) added three goals and three assists as the Bulldogs cruised to the victory. Matuza scored the game-winner just 1:49 into the contest.
Coker, still searching for its victory on the season, was led by Hannah Shuren (East Patchogue, N.Y.) with two goals and a pair of assists in the losing effort.
Barton jumped out to a 6-1 advantage after one quarter of play and never looked back. The Bulldogs held decisive advantages in both shots taken (36-11) and ground balls (19-10) in the win.

Savannah Graves (Chesapeake Beach, Md.) earned the win for Barton after playing the first half while Coker goalkeeper Abby Kellner (Marietta, Ga.) suffered the loss despite stopping 12 shots on the night.
Barton remains at home to face Catawba on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Coker hosts Saint Andrews Friday night beginning at 6:00 p.m.
