WILSON, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (4-3) split an NCAA Division II doubleheader with East Stroudsburg (Pa.) (1-1) Saturday afternoon at Nixon Field. The Bulldogs won the first contest by a 5-3 score while the Warriors won the nightcap, 6-3.
Game One – Barton 5, East Stroudsburg 3 (seven innings)

Alex Hart (Raleigh, N.C.) improved to 2-0 after going the distance for the Bulldogs. Hart struck out six batters and was able to hold off the Warriors despite home runs from East Stroudsburg's Anthony Torreullas (New Holland, Pa.) and Tommy Dunleavy (Bushkill, Pa.).
Barton opened the scoring with an RBI groundout by sophomore catcher
James Holladay (Washington, D.C.) in the second inning while senior designated hitter
Colby Warren (Roanoke Rapids, N.C.) added a run-scoring double in the fourth frame for the Bulldogs.
Barton put the contest away with three runs in the fifth inning while Mike Yates (Buck Hill Falls, Pa.) (0-1) suffered the loss in relief for East Stroudsburg.
Game Two – East Stroudsburg 6, Barton 3
Trailing by a 3-2 score, East Stroudsburg rallied for four runs in the top of the ninth inning to salvage the split. Brock Kauffman (Blue Ball, Pa.) and Torreullas hit two-run doubles in the frame with Kauffman's being the game-winner.
The Bulldogs were limited to just four hits in the contest while Jack Nielsen (Chadds-Ford, Pa.) (1-0) took the win, pitching the final three innings. Barton senior
Michael Yuille (Boyds, Md.) (0-1) took the loss for the Bulldogs.
The two teams will wrap up the weekend series on Sunday with a single contest on the Bulldogs' turf beginning at 11:00 p.m.
