Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Barton men’s basketball stays unbeaten in conference play with triumph over Converse, 75-66

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (6-4, 4-0) remained undefeated in Conference Carolinas play with a 75-66 victory over Converse (6-6, 4-2) Saturday afternoon in a league showdown at Wilson Gymnasium.

Barton sophomore guard Marcus Boykin (Clinton, N.C.) was one of four players to score in double figures for the home team – totaling 22 points – as the Bulldogs remained the lone squad in league play with a perfect record.

Three players scored 14 points for the Bulldogs – junior guard Donaven Hairston (Atlanta, Ga.), senior forward Trevon Spencer (Columbia, N.C.) and junior guard Reese McDonald (Raleigh, N.C.) – as Barton jumped out to a 44-27 advantage at halftime and held on in the second half for the win.

Converse, which saw its five-game winning streak come to an end, was led by Bosko Bojovic (Banja Luka, BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA) with a team-high 18 points.  However, the Valkyries were forced into 21 turnovers and missed 11 free throws which kept the Bulldogs ahead after intermission.  Converse was 19-of-30 from the charity stripe.

Barton also hit seven three-pointers on the day as well as the Bulldogs improved to 5-1 at home this season.

Barton looks to keep the momentum going on Monday when the Bulldogs travel to South Atlantic Conference-power Wingate Monday at 2:00 p.m., while Converse travels to Hartsville, S.C., to take on Coker Monday at 1:00 p.m.
