FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Barton women's volleyball team (8-15, 7-9) saw its four-match winning streak come to an end with a 3-0 loss to Emmanuel (22-7, 16-1) Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at the Shaw Athletic Center.
The Lions won over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-15, 25-23 and 25-21 for their 12th straight victory. Emmanuel also captured the league's West Division championship.
Emmanuel was led by Emily Hanson (Locust Grove, Ga.) with 14 kills while Gabrielle McGlamery (Fayetteville, Ga.) added a double-double – 33 assists and 12 digs – in the victory.
The Lions also totaled nine service aces and limited the Bulldogs to a .135 hitting percentage.
Barton was led by senior outside hitter
Allison Gambill (Taylorsville, N.C.) with eight kills and junior setter
Madison Greene (Angier, N.C.) chipped in with 14 assists in the losing effort.
Barton returns home to take on rival Mount Olive for Senior Night in a Conference Carolinas contest Tuesday at 6:00 p.m., at Wilson Gymnasium while Emmanuel hosts Lees-McRae on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., as well.
