WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (6-14, 5-8) was too strong for league-rival King (13-13, 8-7) Saturday afternoon in a 3-0 sweep in Conference Carolinas action at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs beat the Tornado by scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-14, giving the home team their second win in as many days.
Barton was led by senior outside hitter
Allison Gambill, who totaled a match-high 17 kills to go along with nine digs. The Bulldogs were also bolstered by sophomore right side hitter
Lily Haaga (Herriman, Utah) and senior outside hitter
Caroline Schoonover with 12 kills each.
King was led by Hailee Blankenship (Goode, Va.), who had a team-high 10 kills but it wasn't enough for the visitors to overcome the Bulldogs, who hit .382 for the match.
Barton remains at home to take on conference-foe Belmont Abbey on Tuesday night in a rematch from earlier this year beginning at 6:00 p.m., while King hosts Converse Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
