WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (4-14, 3-8) fell to Chowan (9-13, 6-5) by a 3-1 score Wednesday evening in a Conference Carolinas contest at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Hawks, winners of three straight matches, down the Bulldogs by scores of 25-19, 25-21, 23-25 and 25-21.
Chowan was led by Anixa Rosa-Martinez (San Lorenzo, PUERTO RICO) with 16 kills while Ellie Middleton (Petersburg, Ky.) added a double-double – 11 kills and 17 digs – as the visitors swept Barton in the season series.
Barton was paced by sophomore right side hitter
Lily Haaga (Herriman, Utah) with 16 kills and junior setter
Madison Greene (Angier, N.C.) with 45 assists and 15 digs in the setback.
The Bulldogs were hurt by 11 service errors in suffering their fourth straight setback.
Barton remains at home to take on Lees-McRae on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m., at Wilson Gymnasium in a conference contest while Chowan returns home face King Friday at 6:00 p.m., in league action.
