WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (6-6-3) stepped out of Conference Carolinas play and beat Limestone (4-4-5) by a 2-1 score in a midweek regional contest on Wednesday afternoon at the Bulldogs Athletic Complex.
Barton sophomore forward
Gabriel Slemer Lopes (São Paulo, BRAZIL) scored the match-winner in the 64th minute and assisted on the home team's first goal as the Bulldogs moved back to .500 on the year.
Lopes scored his fifth goal of the season at the top of the box off a pass from the left side from freshman forward
Ingebrigt Braenden (Trondheim, NORWAY), who was credited with the assist.

Zeno Rodatz (Wittlingen, GERMANY) scored his first goal of the year just 13:11 into the contest after taking a quick header from Lopes half the length of the pitch and finding the back of the net. Limestone's Angelo Fabricio (Jundiai, BRAZIL) tied the score at the 35:18 mark of the first half.

Jonathon Joplin (Newton, N.C.) improved to 2-0 on the year after stopping five shots while Alfie Rule (Surrey, ENGLAND) made a pair of saves but suffered the loss for the Saints. The Bulldogs also held a 16-7 edge in shots taken in the win.
Barton hosts North Greenville on Saturday at 3:30 p.m., at Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Field in a league match as part of Senior Day while Limestone hosts Lincoln Memorial on Saturday beginning at 3:30 p.m., as well.
