FLORENCE, S.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (4-13, 3-7) fell to Francis Marion (18-8, 6-4) in straight sets on the road Saturday afternoon at the Smith University Center in a Conference Carolinas match.
The Patriots beat the Bulldogs by scores of 25-18, 25-18 and 25-11 and swept the season series from Barton.
Francis Marion was led by Kalee Peter (Carroll, Iowa), who finished with 10 kills and six blocks – both match-highs – while Lexi Albright (Easley, S.C.) added nine kills and 12 digs as well.
Barton was paced by senior outside hitter
Allison Gambill (Taylorsville, N.C.), who had a team-high kills on the day.
Sophomore libero
Brooke Clute (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) added a match-high 17 digs for the Bulldogs but it wasn't enough as the visitors were held to a .067 hitting percentage for the match.
Barton next plays at home against Chowan on Wednesday evening beginning at 6:00 p.m., in another league match while Francis Marion plays Southern Wesleyan at home on Monday at 6:00 p.m.
