WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (4-12, 3-6) suffered a 3-0 loss to first-place UNC Pembroke (15-10, 12-1) in a Conference Carolinas contest Friday evening at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Braves, who won their 11th straight match, downed the Bulldogs by scores of 25-19, 29-27 and 25-13 and remained at the top of the league's Eastern Division.
UNC Pembroke's Vanja Przulj (Belgrade, SERBIA) finished with a team-high 12 kills while Katie Pressley (Indian Trail, N.C.) added 19 assists and 12 digs as the Braves swept the season series from Barton.
Barton was led by senior outside hitter
Allison Gambill (Taylorsville, N.C.) with a match-high 14 kills to go along with 10 digs while senior outside hitter
Caroline Schoonover (Lutz, Fla.) added a half-dozen kills but the Bulldogs were limited to a .073 hitting percentage in the setback.
Barton turns around to travel to Florence, S.C., on Saturday to take on Francis Marion in a league match beginning at 2:00 p.m., while UNC Pembroke travels to Mount Olive, N.C., on Saturday to face Mount Olive at 5:30 p.m.
