MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (4-11, 3-5) saw its two-match winning streak come to an end with a 3-0 setback to Chowan (7-13, 4-5) Wednesday evening at Bob Burke Court and the Hawks Athletic Center.
The Hawks bounced back from a loss a night earlier by winning over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-20.
Chowan was led by Ellie Middleton (Petersburg, Ky.) with a team-high 11 kills, six digs and a pair of aces and blocks while Diana Rodriguez (Tijuana, MEXICO) added 21 digs in the victory.
Barton was led by senior outside hitter
Allison Gambill (Taylorsville, N.C.), an all-conference honoree, with a match-high 13 kills and 10 digs for a double-double while junior setter
Madison Greene (Angier, N.C.) also notched a double-double – 16 assists and 10 digs – in the losing effort. Chowan totaled 10 service aces and limited the Bulldogs to a 0.053 hitting percentage in the win as well.
Barton returns to Wilson Gymnasium to host UNC Pembroke in a league contest Friday night beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Chowan hosts Belmont Abbey on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
