CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (0-2) suffered a three-set loss to Queens (3-3), 3-0, Friday night in an NCAA Division II match at Curry Arena on the Royals' campus.
The Royals defeated the Bulldogs by scores of 27-25, 25-18 and 25-14 on their way to their second straight victory.
Queens was led by Daniel Leitao (Lisbon, PORTUGAL) with 11 kills to go along with 12 digs while Brandon Grabow (Mount Vernon, Ohio) added 28 assists as the Royals hit .387 for the contest and rallied to win the first set by scoring the final three points to take control.
Barton was paced by sophomore outside hitter
Brandon Johnston (Hawkes Bay, NEW ZEALAND) with a match-high 14 kills while senior setter
Moses Kresch (Hershey, Pa.) added 25 assists in the losing effort. The Bulldogs were limited to just a .157 hitting percentage in the setback as well.
Barton takes on Limestone Saturday at 1:00 p.m., in Charlotte, N.C., while Queens hosts Charleston (W.Va.) Saturday afternoon beginning at 4:00 p.m.
