CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (0-3) fell to Limestone (4-1) by a 3-1 score Saturday afternoon at Curry Arena on the campus of Queens University.
The Saints won by scores of 18-25, 25-17, 25-16 and 25-16 and rebounded from their first defeat of the year the day before against Charleston (W.Va.).
Limestone was led by Albert Warzocha (Rzeszow, POLAND) with 15 kills and seven service aces while Veit Bils (Moers, GERMANY) added 10 kills as the Saints hit .319 for the match and totaled 14 service aces in the victory.
Barton was paced by freshman right side hitter
Jake Adams (Clermont, Fla.) and sophomore outside hitter
Brandon Johnston (Hawkes Bay, NEW ZEALAND) with 12 and 10 kills, respectively, while freshman setter
Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wis.) put together a 32-assist, six-dig performance despite the loss.
The Bulldogs hit just .185 for the match and couldn't capitalize on the first-set victory.
Barton opens Conference Carolinas play on Friday, February 11, when the Bulldogs travel to Belmont, N.C., to take on Belmont Abbey at 7:00 p.m., while Limestone hosts King on Friday, February 4, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
