Barton men’s basketball rallies to beat North Greenville, 91-83, on the road

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (8-9, 6-7) rallied a 10-point halftime deficit to defeat North Greenville (5-10, 3-9), 91-83, Friday evening in a Conference Carolinas game at Hayes Gymnasium.

Barton sophomore guard Malik Bryant (Fort Mill, S.C.) led all scorers with 30 points on 12-of-22 shooting as the Bulldogs spotted the Crusaders a 49-39 advantage at halftime before rallying to win their third consecutive contest.

Sophomore forward Trevon Spencer (Columbia, N.C.) added 17 points and redshirt freshman guard Marcus Boykin (Clinton, N.C.) notched a double-double – 13 points and 10 rebounds – as Barton finished the contest on a 17-3 run over the final six minutes for the victory.

At one point, the Bulldogs scored 14 straight points capped off by a lay-up from Bryant with 38 seconds left for an 88-80 lead.  Barton once again won from the free throw line – hitting 21-of-28 attempts – and shot 50 percent (33-of-66) from the floor.

North Greenville was paced by Draylan Burton (Piedmont, S.C.) with 22 points but the Crusaders turned the ball over 23 times in the losing effort.

In the next round of Conference Carolinas games on Saturday afternoon beginning at 4:00 p.m., Barton faces Belmont Abbey in Belmont, N.C., while North Greenville travels to Central, S.C., to take on Southern Wesleyan.
