BELMONT, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (8-10, 6-8) saw its three-game winning streak come to an end with a 108-72 loss to Belmont Abbey (11-8, 9-6) Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas game at the Wheeler Center.
The Crusaders, who defeated Mount Olive by 60 points the night before, were led by Ryan Maslow (Raleigh, N.C.) with 18 points and was one of seven players from the home team to reach double figures.
Chandler Baker (Woodstock, Ga.) added 16 points and Maslow and Baker both hit four treys as the Crusaders shot 63 percent (45-of-71) for the game and hit 11 three-pointers in the win. Belmont Abbey also swept the season series from Barton and scored 60 points after intermission on its way to the victory.
The Bulldogs were led by sophomore guard
Jett Fortuny (Cary, N.C.) with 17 points to go along with three treys while sophomore guard
Malik Bryant (Fort Mill, S.C.) added 15 points in the losing effort. The Bulldogs were limited to just 31 percent (26-of-85) shooting for the contest.
Barton looks to rebound on Wednesday when the Bulldogs host King at Wilson Gymnasium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Belmont Abbey takes on North Greenville in Tigerville, S.C., Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., as well.
