WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (0-1) opened the 2022 season with a 3-0 setback to George Mason (1-0), an NCAA Division I school, Friday evening at Wilson Gymnasium. The Patriots won by scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 25-19.
The Patriots were led by Jack Bolz (Park Ridge, Ill.) with 10 kills while Zach Talamoa (Fairfax, Va.) added 21 assists as George Mason limited Barton to a -0.072 hitting percentage in the win.
Barton was led by sophomore outside hitter
Brandon Johnston (Hawkes Bay, NEW ZEALAND) with seven kills and senior setter
Moses Kresch (Hershey, Pa.) chipped in with 15 assists in the setback.
The Patriots were also keyed by 11 service aces and a half-dozen blocks in the win as well.
Barton returns to the court on Friday, January 28, when the Bulldogs travel to Charlotte, N.C., to take on Limestone on the campus of Queens University beginning at 4:00 p.m., while George Mason faces Mount Olive in Mount Olive, N.C., on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
