SALISBURY, N.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (0-1) fell to Catawba (2-0) by a 4-0 score on Sunday night in the Fall 2021 season opener at Frock Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Indians took control by scoring all four of their goals after intermission including the match-winner from Alejo Bzurovski (Montevideo, URUGUAY) at the 71:27 mark of the contest.
Joseph Allerton (York, ENGLAND) added two assists for the home team, who held a 14-5 advantage in shots taken. Catawba also held Barton shot less in the first half.
In goal, Catawba's goalkeeper, Gianluca Tommasi (Davidson, N.C.), earned the shutout win after stopping two shots while Barton junior
Jacob Randolph (Metairie, La.) suffered the loss despite six saves.
Barton looks to bounce back on Saturday, September 11, at 3:30 p.m., when the Bulldogs open Conference Carolinas play against Emmanuel (Ga.) at home while Catawba travels to Aiken, S.C., to take on USC Aiken on Wednesday beginning at 7:00 p.m.
