CENTRAL, S.C. – The Barton women's soccer team (3-2-1, 2-1-1) bounced back from a disappointing mid-week loss with a 3-1 triumph over Southern Wesleyan (1-5-1, 1-3) in a Conference Carolinas match Saturday afternoon at Childs Field.

Lexis Goldberg (Sanford, N.C.) scored twice including the match-winner as the visitors took control after spotting Southern Wesleyan a 1-0 advantage just 2:16 into the contest.
Southern Wesleyan's Cayla Hughes (Hendersonville, N.C.) opened the scoring in the third minute but Barton quickly responded when senior defender
Hailey Russell (Jacksonville, N.C.) tied the match at the 11:41 mark of the first half, her second goal of the season. Senior forward
Olivia Bronson (Gaithersburg, Md.) was credited with the assist for the Bulldogs.
Goldberg notched the match-winner in the 17th minute and rounded out the scoring with the lone goal in the second half. Barton held a 22-13 advantage in shots taken while junior goalkeeper
Rachel Cox (Wilson, N.C.) earned the win after stopping three shots in her first start of the season. The Warriors' Samantha Benner (North Augusta, S.C.) suffered the loss in goal despite seven saves.
Barton returns home to face Shaw on Wednesday beginning at 4:30 p.m. Meanwhile, Southern Wesleyan plays Bob Jones on Thursday in Greenville, S.C., at 7:00 p.m.
