BELMONT, N.C. – The Barton women's soccer team (2-1-1, 1-0-1) played Belmont Abbey (0-3-1, 0-0-1) to a 1-1 tie after two overtimes and 110 minutes Friday evening in a Conference Carolinas match at Alumni Field.

Hailey Russell (Jacksonville, N.C.) responded with a goal just 57 seconds before halftime. Russell, a first-team all-league honoree, scored for the first time this season.
Neither team found the back of the net the rest of the way. The Crusaders' Cassidy Calhoun (Mount Holly, N.C.) scored for the home team in the 27th minute of the contest. Belmont Abbey held a 21-18 advantage in shots taken as the two teams tied for the second straight year.

Kristin Davis (Willow Spring, N.C.) stopped six shots while Belmont Abbey's goalkeeper, Lauryn Harding (Fayetteville, N.C.), made nine saves in the tie.
Barton returns home to face UNC Pembroke on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m., in a Conference Carolinas match while Belmont Abbey hosts King (Tenn.) on Tuesday beginning at 4:30 p.m.
