WILSON, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (13-15, 12-10) split a Conference Carolinas doubleheader with Southern Wesleyan (6-22, 6-20) Friday afternoon at Nixon Field.
Game One – Southern Wesleyan 6, Barton 2
The Warriors jumped out to a 5-0 lead after an inning of play and never looked back on their way to the win. Southern Wesleyan's Tanner Glass (Bedford, Mich.) and Sawyer Price (Colorado Springs, Colo.) both finished with two hits and an RBI to lead the visitors.
On the mound, the Warriors' T.J. McEvilly (Matthews, N.C.) (1-1) picked up his first victory of the year after allowing just one earned run in six innings of work. Barton junior
Alex Hart (Raleigh, N.C.) fell to 3-4 after taking the loss while senior designated hitter
Trevor Edior (Los Angeles, Calif.) totaled three hits and drove in a run despite the setback.
Game Two – Barton 11, Southern Wesleyan 2

Travious Ford (Greenville, N.C.) finished five-for-five with a home run as the Bulldogs rallied to salvage the split. Senior catcher
Brayden Olson (Spokane, Wash.) added three hits and three RBI as the home team totaled 17 hits for the contest and snapped a three-game losing streak.
Barton junior
Jared Davis (Poquoson, Va.) improved to 3-1 on the year after going the distance. Davis scattered nine hits and struck out six batters in his third complete game of the season.
For Southern Wesleyan, Parker Pillsbury (Inverness, Fla.) and Dawson Posick (New Smyrna Beach, Fla.) both hit solo home runs but Ryan Moore (Seneca, S.C.) fell to 0-4 after taking the loss.
The two teams will wrap up the weekend league series Saturday beginning at Noon at Nixon Field.
