CENTRAL, S.C. – The Barton women's lacrosse team (6-2, 4-2) continued its recent success on the road with a 15-6 victory over Southern Wesleyan (3-6, 3-3) in a Conference Carolinas match Wednesday afternoon at Childs Field.

Angelina Scarpa (Hicksville, N.Y.) and freshman midfielder
Jayden Smith (Windermere, Fla.) both scored three times as the Bulldogs scored the first seven goals of the match and never looked back in winning their second straight contest.
Smith and Scarpa rank first and second on the team in goals scored with 23 and 22, respectively, while Scarpa added a pair of assists in the win. Barton held a decisive edge in shots taken (40-22) and senior goalkeeper
Katherine Mattena (Salt Lake City, Utah) was credited with the win after making 14 saves for the Bulldogs.
For Southern Wesleyan, Tabitha Beecher (Roanoke, Va.) scored twice while Kaeleigh McDaniel (Saint Augustine, Fla.) suffered the setback in goal despite 14 stops on the afternoon.
Barton remains on the road to take on North Greenville on Saturday, April 10, at 3:00 p.m., in a league match in Tigerville, S.C., while Southern Wesleyan hosts Mount Olive on Saturday beginning at Noon.
