MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Barton men's lacrosse team (7-4, 3-2) gave No. 6 Mount Olive (7-1, 2-1) all it can handle but came up short in an overtime loss, 10-9, in a Conference Carolinas showdown Wednesday afternoon at the Ray McDonald, Sr., Sports Complex.
The Trojans' Connor Watson (British Columbia, CANADA) scored the golden goal at the 2:36 mark of the extra frame as Mount Olive rallied from its first loss of the year this past Saturday against North Greenville.

Seth Mandryk (Stonewall, Manitoba, CANADA) forced overtime with a goal with 53 seconds left as the Bulldogs also rallied from a 7-3 deficit midway through the third quarter to make a game of it. Mandryk and junior attacker
Zach Hodge (Murrieta, Calif.) both led the Bulldogs with three goals in the contest. Hodge leads the team in assists (25) and total points (42) this year.
Watson led all scorers with four goals while Andrew Avarello (Clarence, N.Y.) came up big in goal for the Trojans, stopping 13 shots and earning the win. Barton freshman goalkeeper
Nathan Metcalf (Oxford, N.C.) suffered the loss despite 10 saves. The Bulldogs also held a 39-33 edge in shots taken despite the loss.
Barton stays on the road on Saturday, April 17, when the Bulldogs travel to North Greenville in Tigerville, S.C., beginning at Noon while Mount Olive travels to Franklin Springs, Ga., to take on Emmanuel (Ga.) this Saturday at Noon.
