WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (7-1) overwhelmed Southern Wesleyan (0-8) by a 6-0 score in the opening match of Pool Play B of the 2021 Conference Carolinas Championship Sunday afternoon at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.

Omar Aboutaleb (Asheboro, N.C.) tallied a hat trick while sophomore forward
Immanuel Akpeme (Richmond, Va.) scored twice to lead the Bulldogs to the win.
Aboutaleb scored the first goal of the match in the 16th minute off a lead pass by Akpeme from the middle of the field and the Bulldogs held a 1-0 advantage going into intermission. Aboutaleb has a team-leading seven goals on the year.
From there, the rout was on as the Bulldogs scored five of their six goals after the break. Barton held a 33-5 advantage in shots taken while winning its fourth straight match. In goal, sophomore
Jacob Randolph (Metairie, La.) registered the win while Southern Wesleyan's Will Hughes (Fairport, N.Y.) took the loss despite nine saves.
In the slate of matches in pool play, Southern Wesleyan travels to Franklin Springs, Ga., to face Emmanuel (Ga.) on Wednesday beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Barton hosts Emmanuel next Sunday beginning at 4:00 p.m.
