WILSON, N.C. - The Barton women's soccer team (1-1-1, 1-1-1) fought Belmont Abbey (1-0-1, 1-0-1) to a 2-2 tie after 110 minutes of action Monday evening in a Conference Carolinas match at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.
Barton held two one-goal leads – 1-0 and 2-1 – but each time the visitors responded and eventually the two teams ended the contest in a tie. The Crusaders' Goose Andrews (Valencia, Calif.) got hold of what appeared to be a loose ball after a lob pass into the box and scored from the right side at the 76:11 mark of the second half to force extra time.

Sarah Kaempfe (Augsburg, GERMANY) scored her second goal of the year when she kicked in a blocked free kick in the 13th minute while sophomore midfielder
Kassie Krul (Rockport, Maine) registered her first score of the season in the 64th minute off a beautiful lead pass from the sideline courtesy of senior forward

Belmont Abbey's Mackenzie Lewis (Pinehurst, N.C.) also scored for the visitors while Lauryn Harding (Fayetteville, N.C.) made eight saves in goal. For Barton, who held a 19-12 advantage in shots taken, saw sophomore goalkeeper

Barton will take on Mount Olive on Thursday, March 18, at 7:00 p.m., in a league contest in Mount Olive, N.C., while Belmont Abbey face Lees-McRae on Friday in a home match beginning at 4:30 p.m.
