Barton men’s soccer powers by North Greenville, 3-1, in home league affair

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton College men's soccer team (4-1, 4-1) bounced back from its only loss of the season with a 3-1 victory over North Greenville (2-3, 2-3) Sunday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas match at Electric Supply Company Field at Truist Stadium.

The Bulldogs spotted the Crusaders a 1-0 advantage before reeling off three straight goals to take the win.

Barton senior forward Ruben Mancio (Olvera, SPAIN), an all-league performer, scored his first goal of the year with a bender past an outstretched goalkeeper's hands in the top left corner off the net to tie at the score at one with just over 10 minutes to go before halftime.

From there, Barton took control as sophomore forward Omar Aboutaleb (Asheboro, N.C.) and junior midfielder Ludovic Rocha (Boulogne Billancourt, FRANCE) both found the back of the net in the second half.  Aboutaleb scored the match-winner at the 56:37 mark before assisting on Rocha's goal in the 72nd minute.  Aboutaleb beat a pair of defenders on the left edge and found Ludovic in the box for the score.  Both players have two goals on the year.

For North Greenville, Gareth Greene (Navarre, Fla.) scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season just four minutes into the match in the losing effort.  Barton sophomore goalkeeper Jacob Randolph (Metairie, La.) earned the win after stopping three shots while Noah Kendrick (Cleveland, Ga.) suffered the setback in goal for the visitors.

Barton hosts Chowan on Thursday in a Conference Carolinas match beginning at 6:00 p.m., while North Greenville plays at Southern Wesleyan on Wednesday beginning at 7:30 p.m.
