WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's lacrosse team (3-0, 2-0) overwhelmed another opponent at home, 23-2 over Chowan (0-3, 0-3) in a Conference Carolinas match Wednesday afternoon at Electric Supply Company Field.

Kayli Ashenfelter (Stewartstown, Pa.) both added three scores and a pair of assists as the Bulldogs have outscored their last two opponents by a 43-3 count, both home victories.
Barton rolled to a 14-2 halftime lead and never looked back. In fact, the Bulldogs scored the final 18 goals of the match and held the Hawks without a score for the final 50 minutes of the contest.
The Hawks, still searching for their first win of the year, received goals from Grace Taylor (Baltimore, Md.) and Lela Knight (Poquoson, Va.). Barton also had decisive advantages in both shots taken (41-5) and ground balls (30-6) while senior
Katherine Mattena (Salt Lake City, Utah) earned the victory in goal after playing the first half. Chowan's goalkeeper, Mallory Dunker (Pasadena, Md.), took the loss despite seven saves.
Barton travels to Charleston, W.Va., to take on Charleston on Saturday beginning at 5:00 p.m., while Chowan faces Converse in a league match at home on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
