ROYSTON, Ga. – The Barton men's volleyball team (5-6, 3-5) lost its third straight match despite taking Emmanuel (Ga.) (3-7, 2-5) the distance, falling by a 3-2 score in five sets Monday afternoon at the Shaw Athletic Center.
The Lions, who snapped a two-match losing streak themselves, were paced by Aleksa Lakic (Sremska Kamenica, SERBIA) with 25 kills, five blocks and two service aces while Henrik Westhoff (Bocholt, GERMANY) totaled 52 assists as Emmanuel hit .289 in the win.
Barton was led by sophomore outside hitter
Nathan Chaparro (Glendale, Ariz.) with a season-high 25 kills and 14 digs while junior outside hitter
Adrian Iglesias (Guaynabo, PUERTO RICO) added 17 kills in the losing effort.
Barton rallied to tie the contest at two after taking the third and fourth sets but the home team eventually prevailed.
Barton returns to Wilson Gymnasium to face King (Tenn.) in a league contest Friday night beginning at 7:30 p.m., while Emmanuel takes on North Greenville in Tigerville, S.C., starting at 7:00 p.m.
