Barton men’s lacrosse rolls in 2021 season opener, 15-8 over William Peace

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton College men's lacrosse team (1-0) opened the 2021 campaign with a 15-8 victory over William Peace (0-1) Tuesday night at the Electric Supply Company Field at Truist Stadium.

Barton junior attacker Zach Hodge (Murrieta, Calif.) scored five goals while junior midfielder Seth Mandryk (Stonewall, Manitoba, CANADA) added four scores as the Bulldogs rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to take the win. 

Both players also tallied three assists as the Bulldogs broke a five-all tie with six consecutive goals to take control including the game-winner from Mandryk at the 4:23 mark of the second half.  Barton freshman midfielder Logan Wheeler (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) also got into the action with a hat trick as the home team held considerable advantages in both shots taken (76-24) and ground balls (55-24).

Scout Philipp (Wilmington, N.C.), Finn McGrady (Wilmington, N.C.) and Brewer Warlick (Wilmington, N.C.) all scored twice for the Pacers in the setback.  In goal, sophomore Giuseppe Brown (Gorham, Maine) earned the win for the Bulldogs after playing the first half while Kuleul Moore (Wake Forest, N.C.) suffered the loss for the Pacers despite 11 saves on the night.

Barton hits the road to take on Wingate on Saturday in Wingate, N.C., beginning at 3:00 p.m., while William Peace hosts Shenandoah on Sunday at 2:00 p.m., at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
