WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (1-0, 1-0) prevailed in its season opener with a 1-0 victory over Lees-McRae (0-2, 0-1) Sunday evening at chilly Electric Supply Company Field at Truist Stadium.

Tobias Nielsen (Rask Moelle, DENMARK) scored the match's lone goal when he headed the ball into the net off a corner kick from sophomore midfielder
Nico Rocksien (Jersbek, GERMANY) just under three minutes into the second half and the Bulldogs were able to hold on for the win.
Barton held a 17-7 edge in shots taken while sophomore goalkeeper
Jacob Randolph (Metairie, La.) earned the shutout victory after stopping a pair of shots while Anton Sundstrom (Ostersund, SWEDEN) suffered the loss for the Bobcats in goal despite allowing just one score while totaling five saves.
Barton next faces Emmanuel (Ga.) on Sunday, February 28, in Franklin Springs, Ga., at 2:30 p.m., in Conference Carolinas action while Lees-McRae next takes on Presbyterian on Wednesday, February 24, in Clinton, S.C., beginning at 6:00 p.m.
