BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Barton men's basketball team (4-6, 4-6) saw its two-game winning streak come to an end with an 89-80 loss to King (Tenn.) (5-10, 4-9) Tuesday night in Conference Carolinas action at the Student Center Complex.
The Tornado was led by Darron Howard (Harvest, Ala.) with 24 points on 10-of-16 shooting as the home team picked up its second straight victory. King, who avenged an earlier loss to Barton, built a 19-point lead in the second half – 75-56 with 5:45 left in the contest – shot 50 percent (33-of-66) from the field in the win.
Barton was led by senior guard
Isaiah Reddish (Durham, N.C.), the reigning league player of the week, with 19 points while sophomore guard
Brandon Burford (Charlotte, N.C.) and senior guard
David Campbell (Severn, Ga.) added 16 points in the losing effort.
Four players did reach double figures for the Bulldogs, but the visitors missed 11 shots from the charity stripe on 32 attempts and held a 41-38 advantage on the boards despite the loss.
Barton returns to Conference Carolinas play on Friday when the Bulldogs travel to Franklin Springs, Ga., to take on Emmanuel (Ga.) beginning at 2:00 p.m. King, meanwhile, travels to Banner Elk, N.C., to take on Lees-McRae on Thursday starting at 7:00 p.m.
