BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (0-2) fell to Lees-McRae (3-0) by a 3-0 score on Friday night in a non-Conference Carolinas contest at Williams Gymnasium. The Bobcats won by scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-19 to remain unbeaten on the season.
Lees-McRae was led by Caitlyn Smirne (Winterville, N.C.) with 11 kills while Carlee Allbaugh (Tallahassee Fla.) added 25 assists and nine digs in the victory. Lees-McRae limited Barton to a 0.043 hitting percentage on the night.
Barton was led by sophomore outside hitter
Allison Gambill (Hickory, N.C.) with eight kills and junior setter
Sarah Kirk (Pearland, Texas) with a double-double – 13 assists and 12 digs – in the losing effort.
Barton faces King in Bristol, Tenn., on Saturday beginning at Noon in a non-Conference Carolinas contest while Lees-McRae takes on Emmanuel (Ga.) on Friday, February 19, on the road beginning at 7:30 p.m.
