BRISTOL, TENN. – The Barton women's volleyball team (0-3) suffered a 3-0 setback to King (Tenn.) (1-1) Saturday afternoon in a non-Conference Carolinas contest at the Student Center Complex. The Bulldogs lost by scores of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-11.
The Tornado's Julie Ward (Berthoud, Colo.) finished with a match-high 11 kills while Georgia Davis (Leland, N.C.) added 14 assists and three blocks as King picked up its first win of the season. King limited Barton to just a 0.034 hitting percentage and totaled 11 service aces in the victory.
Barton was led by freshman right side hitter
Caroline Schoonover (Lutz, Fla.) with nine kills while junior outside hitter
Camryn Frederick (Huntersville, N.C.) added eight kills in the setback.
Barton next travels to Belmont, N.C., to take on Belmont Abbey on Saturday beginning at Noon in a non-league contest while King takes on Erskine in Due West, S.C., on Friday at 5:00 p.m.
