TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (6-3, 5-1) bounced back from a disappointing setback three days ago to down North Greenville (5-5, 2-4), 1-0, Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas match at Pepsi Stadium.
Barton senior midfielder
Luis Hernandez Velasco (Guadarrama, SPAIN) scored the lone goal of the match at the 64:47 mark of the second half. The goal was Velasco's team-leading seventh of the year.
Barton junior goalkeeper
Jacob Randolph (Metairie, La.), the reigning league defensive player of the week, earned his fifth shutout of the year after stopping three Crusader shots. North Greenville's goalkeeper, Reno Van der Meer (Badhoevedorp, THE NETHERLANDS), suffered the loss despite allowing just one score with three saves.
Barton also held a 12-9 advantage in shots taken and winning for the fourth time in the last five contests.
Barton men's soccer returns home to take on Erskine in a Conference Carolinas contest next Saturday, October 16, at 11:00 a.m., while North Greenville hosts Southern Wesleyan Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
