BELMONT, N.C. – The Barton College women's volleyball team (7-12, 4-9) fell to both Belmont Abbey (8-18, 8-6) and Wingate (17-3) by scores of 3-1 and 3-0, respectively, Tuesday at the Wheeler Center.
Belmont Abbey 3, Barton 1
The Crusaders defeated the Bulldogs by scores of 20-25, 27-25, 25-17 and 25-22 and avenged an earlier loss to Barton.
Belmont Abbey was led by Caitlyn Faber (Pompano Beach, Fla.) with a match-high 19 kills while Paige Rawlins (Pickerington, Ohio) added 36 assists and nine digs in the victory.

Sarah Burton (Conway, S.C.) tallied a team-high 13 kills and freshman outside hitter
Lauryn Pitt (Greenville, N.C.) totaled eight kills and 15 digs but the Bulldogs were limited to a .145 hitting percentage in the setback.
Wingate 3, Barton 0
Wingate, a South Atlantic Conference power, swept Barton by scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-10 and increased their winning streak to four matches.
Wingate's Lorna Stacherski (Lexington, S.C.) and Maggie Young (Waxhaw, N.C.) both finished with seven kills to the lead squad. Wingate also hit .305 for the contest and finished with 12 service aces in the win.
Barton was led by freshman middle blocker
Lily Haaga (Herriman, Utah) with six kills and freshman libero
Brooke Clute (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) reached double figures in digs (11) but the Bulldogs suffered their fourth straight loss.
Barton looks to rebound on Friday when the Bulldogs host Chowan in a Conference Carolinas match beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Wilson Gymnasium.
