FLORENCE, S.C. – The Barton women's volleyball (7-10, 4-8) fell in three sets to Francis Marion (16-8, 12-0), 3-0, Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas match at the Smith University Center.
The Patriots won by scores of 25-11, 25-13 and 25-15 and ran their winning streak to 12 matches and remained at the top of East Division standings of Conference Carolinas.
Francis Marion was led by Lexi Albright (Easley, S.C.) with a match-high 19 kills while Kaylee Gillespie (Pickens, S.C.) added 39 assists as the Patriots hit .352 for the match in remaining unbeaten in league play.
Barton was led by freshman middle blocker
Lily Haaga (Herriman, Utah) with eight kills, freshman setter
Hailey Strey (Cape Coral, Fla.) added 15 assists and freshman libero
Brooke Clute (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) chipped in with 15 digs in the setback. The Bulldogs hit just .136 in suffering their second straight loss.
Barton travels to Belmont, N.C., to take on Belmont Abbey (3:00 p.m.) and Wingate (5:00 p.m.) on Tuesday while Francis Marion hosts Mount Olive in a league match on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
