WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (7-8, 4-6) downed one of the top teams in Conference Carolinas with a 3-1 triumph over Emmanuel (Ga.), 3-1, Saturday afternoon at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs won by scores of 17-25, 25-17, 25-22 and 25-14 and won their second straight match in the process.
Barton freshman outside hitter
Lauryn Pitt (Greenville, N.C.) finished with 10 kills and was one of three Bulldogs with at least nine kills on the afternoon.

Sarah Kirk (Pearland, Texas) finished with 34 assists and 14 digs – her ninth double-double on the season - and freshman libero
Brooke Clute (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) added 25 digs as the Bulldogs limited the Lions to a .110 hitting percentage in the win. Barton also tallied 13 service aces in the win.
Emmanuel, which saw its five-match winning streak snapped, was led by Aleksandra Hamuda (Warsaw, POLAND) with a match-high 13 kills in the losing effort.
Barton remains at home to face UNC Pembroke on Friday night beginning at 7:00 p.m., in a conference contest while Emmanuel takes on Converse on the road in Spartanburg, S.C., on Wednesday starting at 7:00 p.m.
